Once the playoffs move past the Wild Card into the Division Series, the American League side shifts to TBS, truTV, and HBO Max, running October 3 through October 20. It's the same trap with a different name, and it's even more expensive if you pick the wrong tier.
HBO Max with ads at $10.99 a month does not carry live sports. You need HBO Max Standard at $18.49 a month. Standard is ad-free for regular programming and includes live TNT Sports coverage. You'll still see commercials during live games, but Standard is the tier you need to watch the game at all.
