How to Watch the 2026 March Madness Tournament Without Cable
Posted by Bryan Longworth | A Faster PC | Managed IT & Streaming Support for Florida's Treasure Coast, Space Coast, and South Florida
Did you know you can watch every single game of the 2026 men's and women's March Madness tournaments — 67 games each — without paying a single cable bill? Even better, you may already have subscriptions that unlock part of the content right now.
This guide walks you through every streaming option available, from digital antennas to streaming apps, and gives you a custom roadmap based on whether you want to watch the men's tournament, the women's tournament, or both. We'll also cover how to watch on Roku, Amazon Firestick, Apple TV, and Google TV.
Where Are the 2026 March Madness Games?
Before we talk about how to watch, you need to know where the games are airing.
Men's NCAA Tournament The 2026 men's NCAA tournament officially starts March 17th and runs through April 6th. Games will air on CBS, TBS, TNT, and TruTV. The men's Final Four and National Championship games are on TBS.
Women's NCAA Tournament The women's tournament runs March 18th through April 5th. All 67 women's tournament games will air on ESPN Networks and are available through the ESPN app. The women's Final Four and National Championship games air April 3rd and April 5th on ESPN.
Brackets for both tournaments will be set on Selection Sunday, March 15th.
The Challenge: The men's games are split across four different networks, and the women's games are on ESPN. That means no single service covers everything out of the box — unless you know exactly which ones to choose. That's what this guide is for.
Option 1: A Digital Antenna (Free)
The cheapest option is also the most overlooked. Other than the cost of the antenna itself, this method is completely free — no monthly subscription required.
A digital antenna lets you receive over-the-air broadcasts from CBS, ABC, Fox, NBC, and more. For best reception, an outdoor antenna mounted on a 20-foot pole is recommended. If your community doesn't allow outdoor antennas, you can place one in your attic, though reception may be reduced due to construction materials.
One bonus of a digital television signal: each channel you receive comes with roughly five sub-channels, including content geared toward kids, older audiences, and Spanish-language programming.
The catch: A digital antenna will not receive TBS, TNT, or TruTV. But as a free foundation for CBS coverage, it's a smart first step.
Option 2: Max with Sports Hub (TBS, TNT, and TruTV)
Here's something a lot of people don't know. HBO Max — now simply called Max — includes live sports through TBS, TNT, and TruTV on certain plans.
Max with Sports Hub costs $18.49 per month and includes all of HBO's entertainment programming plus live sports from TBS, TNT, and TruTV. This plan is the key to unlocking the majority of men's March Madness games without a traditional cable package, including the Final Four and the National Championship game.
You can stream Max on Roku, Amazon Firestick, Apple TV, Google TV, smartphones, tablets, and computers by simply downloading the Max app and signing in.
Note: Max does not include CBS. For CBS coverage, you'll need one more piece of the puzzle — and it may cost you less than you think.
Option 3: Paramount Plus (CBS Coverage)
CBS is the home of some of the biggest men's tournament games, and to stream CBS live, you need Paramount Plus.
There are two tiers:
- Paramount Plus Essential — ad-supported, does not include live CBS streaming
- Paramount Plus Premium — $13.99 per month, includes live CBS streaming
For March Madness, you need the Premium plan for the live CBS feed.
Already a Walmart Plus member? Here's the deal. Walmart Plus members already receive Paramount Plus Essentials at no additional cost. You can upgrade to Paramount Plus Premium for just $5.49 per month (or $54.49 per year) directly through your Walmart Plus Benefits Hub.
To get started:
- Sign in to your Walmart account
- Go to your Accounts page and select Walmart Plus
- Find Paramount Plus Essentials in the Benefits Hub
- Follow the steps to activate your account
- Upgrade to Premium through the same hub for the live CBS feed
Visit Walmart.com and explore the Walmart Plus Benefits Hub to get started.
The Complete Men's Tournament Streaming Package
Here's how to put it all together for the men's NCAA tournament:
Standard Package:
- Max with Sports Hub — $18.49/month (TBS, TNT, TruTV)
- Paramount Plus Premium — $13.99/month (CBS)
- Total: approximately $33/month
Walmart Plus Package:
- Max with Sports Hub — $18.49/month (TBS, TNT, TruTV)
- Paramount Plus Premium via Walmart Plus — $5.49/month (CBS)
- Total: approximately $24/month
Since the tournament only lasts three weeks, you can subscribe for one month and cancel — paying only for the time you need. Both Max and Paramount Plus have apps available on Roku, Amazon Firestick, Apple TV, and Google TV.
Bonus: Add a free digital antenna for CBS reception in your area to supplement your streaming setup at no monthly cost.
The Complete Women's Tournament Streaming Package
The women's tournament has a much simpler solution.
ESPN Unlimited at $29.99 per month gives you every single women's tournament game, from the First Four all the way through the National Championship, in one subscription. The plan includes ESPN, ABC, ESPN Plus, all ESPN networks, Hulu, and Disney Plus.
ESPN Unlimited works on Roku, Firestick, Apple TV, Google TV, smartphones, tablets, and computers through the ESPN app. The women's Final Four and National Championship games air April 3rd and April 5th on ESPN. With ESPN Unlimited, you won't miss a single moment.
All-in-One Live TV Streaming Options
If you want the easiest solution and don't mind spending a bit more, a full live TV streaming package covers both the men's and women's tournaments in a single app. Many of these services also offer free trials, so you may be able to watch the entire tournament without paying anything.
- YouTube TV — $82.99/month
- Hulu Plus Live TV — $89.99/month
Both carry CBS, TBS, TNT, and TruTV for the men's tournament and ESPN networks for the women's tournament.
Other options to consider:
- FuboTV
- Sling TV
- DirecTV Stream
Channel lineups and pricing vary, so check each service's current offerings at their respective websites. All are available on Roku, Amazon Firestick, Apple TV, and Google TV — just download the app and sign in.
Your March Madness Streaming Roadmap
Watching the men's tournament only? Get Max with Sports Hub plus Paramount Plus Premium (or the Walmart Plus upgrade). Add a digital antenna for CBS as a free bonus.
Watching the women's tournament only? ESPN Unlimited at $29.99/month is all you need.
Watching both tournaments? Combine ESPN Unlimited for the women's side with Max Sports Hub plus Paramount Plus Premium for the men's side — or simplify everything with an all-in-one live TV streaming package like YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live TV, Sling TV, DirecTV Stream, or FuboTV.
